Description

Synopsis | Following his father Deok-bae’s final wish to be buried on his native island, Jae-gu sets out by boat carrying a flower-covered funeral bier. But as the boat nears the island, the villagers fiercely refuse to let it land, prompting Jae-gu’s friend, the poet Kim Cheol, to recall the island’s long-buried memories. In 1950, the year the Korean War broke out, young Kim Cheol grows up without a mother, raised in the care of the village women. Each carrying her own wounds, desires, and sorrows, these women teach him warmth, grief, and the hidden truths of life.
