Description

Synopsis | In New York City, a young Chinese couple striving for a new life suddenly face a separation during the pandemic. The intrusion of two strangers throws their world off balance, changing their relationship into an uncharted territory where nothing will remain the same.

Yan Kunao
Director
Yan Kunao (b. 1998) is a Chinese screenwriter, director, and producer. He graduated from the Communication University of China and later received an MFA in Directing from Columbia University. His first short film, Summer Swing, premiered at the Shanghai International Film Festival and was shortlisted for La Semaine de la Critique at the Cannes Film Festival. He served as an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Film at Columbia University. His co-produced feature Jing Guo was selected for the Berlin International Film Festival. His debut feature, Jet Lag in Summer, premiered at the Pingyao International Film Festival in 2025 and was selected for the Competition section of the Udine Far East Film Festival in 2026. Director's previous short film, Before Leaving, was screened at Festival de cinéma de la ville de Québec in 2023 (https://2023.fcvq.ca/programmations/films/before-leaving-454).
