The 11th KFFC had an in-person networking event for the Asian Art Publication Lab’s (AAPlab) Asian Diaspora Book Collective (ADBC) on May 29th at Ada X.We wrapped up the final chapters of Joseph Han’s novel Nuclear Family. We discussed its themes relating to Asian diasporic perspectives, North-South Korea relations, Hawai’i, shamanism, hauntings, food, and border crossings. It was wonderful to discuss our personal, lived stories with fellow artists and the public.

Many thanks to the Ada X team, our ADBC members, and KFFC staff for a great in-person networking event!ADBC is always looking for reading recommendations, ideas for projects and collaborations, and suggestions on guest speakers! We are particularly interested in books from Asian diasporic writers, with no limitations on nations or literary forms.

Our next book will be Lisa Wool-Rim Sjöblom’s Palimpsest: Documents From a Korean Adoption. Palimpsest is a graphic novel and memoir about the author’s experience as an adoptee from Sweden trying to find her birth parents in Korea.

Our next meeting will be on June 8th at 11 AM - 12 PM, on Zoom. In order to get benefits such as joining our ADBC Discord, please attend at least 3 ADBC meetings that happen on Zoom, every other Saturday at 11 AM - 12 PM.
