2025 STAFF MEMBERS

MATHILDE ELIE
General Coordinator

Originally from Quebec City, Mathilde moved to Montreal to pursue a bachelor degree in East Asian studies at Université de Montréal (UdeM). She graduated in 2024 after spending her last semester at Sogang University, Seoul to further her study of Korean culture and the Korean language. Having previously completed an internship at Arts East-West in 2022, she joined back the team as general coordinator last fall.
ANNABELLE KANG
Assistant Director

Born and raised in Toronto, I joined Arts East-West last spring after relocating to Montreal for my studies. I earned my MA in English Literature at McGill University in 2024 focusing my studies on North-South Korea relations, Asian diasporic literature and cultural studies. I believe that organizations like Arts East-West are important to bridge the worlds of academics, cultural workers, artists, activists, and community organizers to unleash our individual and collective possibilities as Asian and pan-Asian Canadians. Une humanité, une lutte!
MI-JEONG LEE
Artistic and Executive Director

Mi-Jeong Lee is the Founder and Artistic Director of Arts East-West/Korean Film Festival Canada. An independent artist and scholar on Asian film, media and visual arts, she also holds a PhD in Arts Studies and Practices of the Faculté des arts at l’Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM). Lee teaches Korean visual and media arts at l’Université de Montréal. Her recent research focuses on Korean arts, Asian Canadian diaspora arts, along with women’s rights, labours, body, environments in a gaze of aesthetics and film philosophy.
SEOKBIN YOON
Marketing and Communications Intern

Hi! I’m Seokbin Yoon. I recently graduated in Film Studies at Concordia and I’m so excited to join Arts East West in social media development and marketing. I’ve always had a deep love for cinema, especially Asian films, and I’m thrilled to be part of a team that celebrates such culture! I can’t wait to connect with audiences, share amazing films, and help bring the magic of Asian cinema to even more people!
