The Recorder Exam (Kim Bora, 2011, 28 min)

Set in 1988, the film follows Eun-hee, a 9-year-old girl preparing for her school’s recorder exam while quietly observing the chaos of her family life. Through her eyes, we experience the disappointments, silences, and gentle heartbreaks of childhood.

This short won Best Student Film at Aspen Shortsfest and was invited to Busan, Clermont-Ferrand, and more. With its gentle pacing and emotional depth, it remains one of the most memorable Korean shorts of the past decade.
