Chung Ji-young is a South Korean film director. His passion for cinema began in high school, when he became fascinated by the process of transforming a literary work into a screenplay and then into film. This experience sparked his desire to become a director and led him to develop his cinematic sensibility through extensive reading and film viewing. Although he initially faced family opposition to studying film, he eventually pursued theater and film before turning toward French literature, influenced by his admiration for French cinema. After working on screenplays and becoming active in the Korean film industry, Chung began his professional career as part of director Kim Soo-yong’s directing team. His path reflects a deep literary foundation, a strong interest in cinematic adaptation, and a determined commitment to filmmaking.
